Manchester City got ahead of Chelsea after signing John Stones

Manchester City won the race of signing John Stones after offloading around €47 million in order to secure the services of the 22 year old English defender who was being tracked down by Chelsea for the past few transfer windows but despite launching offers of €25 million, it wasn’t enough for Chelsea to lure the highly rated player to Stamford Bridge.

Pep Guardiola is a manager that enjoys seeing his squad having control of the ball and feeling comfortable with it no matter what situation they might be in and this is one of the traits that John Stones is known for as he is a centre-back capable and willing to go upfront which is what the Spanish manager wants to have in his team.

Following his completion as a new signing of Manchester City, John Stones said during an interview: “I hope Guardiola can bring out everything in me. I always know that there’s a lot of improvement for my game personally. It’s 110 percent the right decision to play under him and I’m so thankful that I’m getting the opportunity to come here and play with the best and improve day in, day out.” Continue reading “Manchester City got ahead of Chelsea after signing John Stones”

Man City News For New Season

There is more news rolling in as the new season is about to get started. If you look at Man City and Man United, the best comparisons are between the two managers of the club.

While Pep continues with Man City, Louis van Gaal was replaced by Jose Mourinho this year. Mourinho and Pep are up for comparisons. If you check their statistics, Mourinho has been around for longer, having managed 6 times till now, though his success rate comparing the number of matches won is lower than that of Guardiola by 6%. It remains to be seen how both managers work their teams up to be more successful than the other this season.

Among the different statistics for the City, around this time in 2010 David Silva had signed up for the City. If you look at the news of Premier League Sunderland will have David Moyes directing the team if Sam Allardyce is selected to manage England’s team. Among all the bids and transfers that are going on, the City would be bidding for Bayern Munich’s player Joshua Kimmich as Pep Guardiola would be looking to sign up this player who would help to strengthen the defensive side. Manuel Pellegrini may consider requirement if he does not find any suitable offer

Manuel Pellegrini has stated that he will consider retirement in case he does not find any suitable offer.

He wants to give himself some time to think about the different offers and then take a decision about his future. He admits that he loves football and that it will be hard for him to leave without the challenge of managing a top club.

At the moment, it is believed that Everton might be interesting in hiring Manuel Pellegrini but for the time being there are no concrete offers. The former Manchester City manager said that he has no problem to take a break from football if ever there is no interesting offer. He might even consider retirement altogether if ever there is no offer in the long run. However, it is hard to imagine that a qualified and successful manager such as Pellegrini will be out of work for long. We would probably have to wait after the Euros to find out which club he will be managing next season.

He has also commented his past season with Manchester City and stated that this was the least successful season he had in England. Luka Modric still the Best Player for Real Madrid

Luka Modric has been a key player for Real Madrid even though the likes of Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo will continue to grab the headlines.

The Croatian midfielder moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2012 for a fee of around £ 30 million. It may have taken him 12 months to get settled in Spanish football, but he has since been one of the finest players in the midfield. It is clear that Madrid value the presence of the Croatian a lot. Hence, it is not surprising to find that he has a massive transfer fee inserted into his release clause.

Given that Real Madrid made a good some money – by 2012 standards, the club will stand to receive at least £ 387 million if a club wants to talk with Modric without the permission of Madrid. The release clause is an astronomical figure and any top player like Modric will be difficult to get on the cheap. Primarily due to this release clause, it looks like Modric will end up playing at Madrid for a few more years before the club eventually want to look at another player in the centre of the park. Current manager Zinedine Zidane continues to place a lot of faith in the Croatian. Continue reading “Luka Modric still the Best Player for Real Madrid”

The playing style of Manchester United has seriously changed according to Rio Ferdinand

A few years ago when Sir. Alex Ferguson was in charge of Manchester United, the Premier League club had a free flowing playing style which allowed the players to perform in different ways and have freedom in the pitch but now under the guidance of Louis van Gaal, Rio Ferdinand believes that the team has experienced a huge change as they will not have the same freedom as they had some time ago.

Former player of Manchester United, Rio Ferdinand said: “Unfortunately, I think United fans need to be re-educated about what to expect now. Because it’s not going to be quick football, rampaging wingers, crosses flying into the box, thrills and yes, a few spills.

“If you go to watch them and are expecting that, you are going to be sadly disappointed. It’s all about possession football. Right now, United are well off what will be needed to be champions this season. Well off what I see in Manchester City.”

Ferdinand did not bash out or critique the system that Louis van Gaal is using but the former defender did state that the players will now be more limited as they don’t have any room for: ‘’free thinking’’

Rio Ferdinand worked alongside Sir. Alex Ferguson from 2002 until 2013 and the former defender of Manchester United is well aware of the playing style of the previous manager of the Premier League club and it simply will not be the same as the one that the Dutch coach has been implanting in the team.

When Ferdinand was asked about which Premier League club he believes has the best chances of winning the Champions League of this current season, Ferdinand replied by saying that from his own point of view it’s Manchester City.
