San Antonio, Texas, born Neal BLACK learned guitar firsthand on the Texas scene from players like Albert Collins, Johnny Winter, Steve Ray Vaughan but also Earl Hooker, Hubert Sumlin & Link Wray.
He becomes professional at the age of 16 backin´ up Jimmy Dawkins, Papa John Creach, Chuck Berry, Johnnie Johnson & Johnny Copeland to name a few. Then starts his own band the DOGMEN, touring the South and moving to New York City where he records his 2 first albums the second wit his newly formed band THE HEALERS..
Goes back to Texas in 1998, then settles in Guadalajara for 3 years, recording his best album so far "Dreams are for losers"
Neal Black just moved to Europe, where besides touring with his own band, he is the frontman of 'THE BLUES CONSPIRACY', a very unique stage & recording package with Nico Wayne TOUSSAINT & Leadfoot RIVET. Neal's dark & broken voice recalls singers like Tom WAITS or Dr. John. His guitar playin' and tone are only his own, furious or dreamy.
Neal BLACK est en exil à Mexico, avec pour tout bagage une guitare et des rêves en haillons. La chaleur est suffocante, les espoirs sont déçus et la rage est intacte.
Neal touche sa première guitare à l´âde sept ans à San Antonio (Texas). Après la country music, il découvre Johnny Winter, Hubert Sumlin, Link Wray, Les Ventures et Earl Hooker. Il passe ensuite quelques années dans une école de musique (dirigée par Jackie King et Herb Ellis) ce qui favorisera cette technique gituaristique extrêmement fluide qui le caractérise.
Très jeune, il devient professionnel et accompagne Jimmy Dawkins, Papa John Creach et Johnny Copeland. Il monte ensuite son propre groupe (Les Dogmen) et écume le Sud des États-Unis avant de s´établir à New York avec un nouveau combo (Neal Black & The Healers). C´est là qu´il enregistre ses deux premiers albums. Il réalisera le troisième au Texas où il retourne en 1998. Nouvelle CD: "Dreams are for loser".
